Xtend Barre Alexandria is conveniently located on Henderson Rd in the heart of Alexandria. The studio enjoys a leafy aspect overlooking Australian Technology Park with easy access and plenty of parking available. We offer a fast-paced, 55-minute full body immersion that fuses dance, Pilates and sculpting exercises at the ballet barre to give you a chiseled body – and fast! 

By using a series of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches, the Xtend Barre system sculpts the body proportionally so that all body parts are equally challenged. This total body workout serves to strengthen, lengthen, and stretch the body from top to bottom, from inside out. The end result is a long and lean physique… without added bulk. Developed from a dance / Pilates background, the Xtend Barre workout combines the amazing results of dance with the principles of strength and safety in Pilates. At Xtend Barre Alexandria we teach a multi-level, safe, fun and effective class that anyone can join and thrive in. No prior Pilates experience or dance training required. Meet you at the Barre!

Julia Keast – Owner/Instructor

Julia began her professional dancing career at the age of 16. She traveled all over the world working as a dancer and performing artist and enjoyed career highlights such as Principal Dancer at the Moulin Rouge and Principal Dancer and host for a number of Italian television shows and musical theatre productions. After nearly 9 years abroad she returned to Australia where she was able to continue her career on home soil, performing in a number of top Aussie musicals including Guys and Dolls and Candyman. During this time she began her studies in health and wellbeing disciplines and hasn’t stopped since! Julia is a qualified Stott Pilates instructor, holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage, is an Xtend Barre instructor and Instructor Trainer, has completed a Certificate in Nutrition, is a certified Intrafitt™ coach (personalized nutrition and exercise programs) and is currently enrolled and studying for the Certificate IV in Fitness. In May 2013 Julia gave birth to her second son and believes that Xtend Barre was a major reason for her fast labor and recovery. She is passionate about the benefits of the Xtend Barre sessions for women and men of all ages and fitness backgrounds and loves the way the Xtend Barre workout complements her holistic approach to fitness, health and wellbeing.

Andrew Aroustian - Owner/Instructor

Andrew has studied dance all his life and he enjoyed a very successful career as a performing artist. His professional experiences have included; featured dancer in Baz Lurhman's film "Moulin Rouge", four years performing the soloist role at Moulin Rouge and Lido de Paris (Paris), various roles in major musical theatre productions in Paris and Australia and he also toured the world as a dancer on the most prestigious American cruise lines. Upon his return to Australia Andrew discovered the benefits of Pilates. He experienced the rehabilitative effect of Pilates on his own previous injuries, which inspired him to become a qualified STOTT Pilates Matwork and Reformer instructor. Andrew specializes in Reformer technique and has helped many clients to achieve new levels of physical wellbeing through his detailed response to individual needs. He is skilled and experienced in working with clients from varied age groups and ability levels. Andrew has been a sought after instructor at many well-respected Sydney based Pilates studios. Andrew has continued his professional development by completing Xtend Barre training. Xtend Barre is a workout that delivers not only the form and strength of Pilates, but also the grace, poise and cardio challenge found in dance. Andrew's passion for Xtend Barre instructing is fuelled by the clients he teaches; in watching them develop the lean, strong bodies that Xtend Barre promotes like no other format. Andrew is thrilled to be joining his business partner and dear friend Julia Keast in welcoming you to Xtend Barre Alexandria.

Amanda Jakelic - Instructor

Amanda developed a passion for dance at a very young age, training in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary from the age of 3. This passion for performing continued in adulthood where Amanda has had many years’ experience as a professional dancer, performing in various corporate events, stage shows and working for the Wiggles. Aside from her dancing achievements, Amanda holds a Bachelor of Commerce – Commercial Law and Human Resource Management and works full-time as a HR professional. Amanda holds her BBO Diploma in Classical Ballet, and having taught dance for many years it was very refreshing to discover the Xtend Barre workout. Amanda instantly fell in love with the dynamic, full body workout that combines her love for dance and Pilates in one addictive 55 minute class. She hopes to pass on her love and passion for Xtend Barre to her clients to help them achieve results by offering challenging classes that strengthen, lengthen and sculpt the body from head to toe. “Xtend Barre is a fun and great workout that takes Dance and Pilates to the next level and really does transform your body! Deanne Berry - Instructor

Born and raised in Australia, Deanne has spent most of her early performing years in Sydney, however for the past eight years she has based herself in London where her career has developed. Working as a dancer / choreographer and presenter on various TV programs, fitness DVD’s and music videos, Deanne has also performed with some of the world’s top artists and created celebrity fitness DVD’s. She has been a fitness columnist for “NOW” magazine and is currently the face of K-Swiss sports brand in the UK. “Training and Working as a dancer teaches you a huge respect for your body. It requires discipline and encourages you to obtain your best results. Both Pilates and Xtend Barre embrace these qualities”

Elaine O'Doherty - Instructor

Elaine began dancing aged 3 in her hometown of Portsmouth in the UK, studying most forms of dance including ballet, tap, modern, jazz and competitive disco and rock n roll. Having appeared in numerous stage and TV productions both in the UK and Europe, Elaine hung up her dancing shoes in 1999 to travel the world with her husband. Having settled in Sydney Elaine soon discovered and fell in love with the Xtend Barre Workout. Gaining her pilates certification in 2012 and becoming a certified Xtend Barre instructor soon after. Elaine wants to share her passion and enthusiasm for this incredible workout and endeavors to make each and every class challenging and fun. See you at the Barre!

Renae Berry - Instructor

Fitness and health have always played a huge part in Renae’s life. She grew up studying and ultimately teaching contemporary, jazz and classical ballet and loved the grace and posture that it taught her from a young age. Renae took her skills to a professional level and worked as a dancer in numerous shows overseas before incorporating singing and acting and moving into Musical Theatre. This saw her star in shows both in Australia and aboard, along with work in Film and TV. After taking time out to have her 2 children, Renae was introduced to the wonderful world of Xtend Barre. “Having taught dance from an early age and looking to get back the fitness, tone and strength I once knew as a dancer, Xtend Barre was the perfect fit”. Renae hopes to deliver you a great all over body workout that’s fun and inspiring while bringing out your inner dancer!

Lauren Lyttleton - Instructor

Lauren is new to the Xtend Barre Instructor team, completing her training in February this year. After discovering Xtend Barre during her pregnancy in 2011, Lauren was instantly hooked. Having danced as a child, Lauren fell in love with the dynamic routines and ballet element to the Xtend Barre workout and found that it kept her strong and lean during pregnancy and whipped her body back into shape post baby. Lauren understands the challenges of keeping fit while juggling work and motherhood and loves that with Xtend you can combine all your strength, cardio and pilates training in one intense 55 minute workout!

Matthew Harris - Instructor

Matthew comes from the UK and fell in love with dance and movement at the tender age of four. He trained for five years at the Royal Ballet School, London followed by a diploma in Musical theatre at The Arts Educational Schools , London. He went on to a successful career in musicals, TV and cabaret all over the world that has spanned over 21 years. Career highlights include performing in the Musicals “Chess”, “La Cage aux Folles” and “Moby!” In Cabaret Matthew has worked at the world Famous “ Moulin Rouge”, “The Talk of London” , “Royal Palace” and “Scala” In Madrid Spain. He has also performed on the high seas for Royal Caribbean, Costa and Carnival cruise lines. Matthew has danced in numerous pantomimes, trade shows and on many TV variety shows. He has been lucky enough to dance for the Queen on several occasions. Matthew is also a qualified massage therapist. Injury led Matthew to pilates and while studying this he discovered Xtend Barre and fell in love with this amazing workout. He is dedicated to help you achieve your fitness goals through this exciting class that will constantly challenge you and looks forward to meeting you at a barre very soon.

Natalie Parker - Instructor

Natalie developed a love for dance from a young age, training in Classical Ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and gymnastics. She followed her passion, and taught children to dance for 7 years whilst also studying Nursing and Midwifery. Natalie still practices as a Nurse and Midwife, and chose to study Pilates and Xtend Barre after discovering how amazing just one Xtend Barre class made her feel - "you won't be able to resist coming back for more thigh burning fun!" Xtend Barre is the perfect fusion of dance and Pilates that sculpts and strengthens your body in a dynamic 55minute workout. Natalie is looking forward to giving you a challenging, energizing and fun total body workout, and is excited to be part of Xtend Barre Alexandria.

Stacey Rigney - Instructor

Stacey started Classical Ballet at age 3 when she begged her mother for a pair of ballet shoes. As a teenager she aspired to be a professional dancer, completing up to Advanced II in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and was also a Junior Interstate Member of the Australian Ballet School. It was during these years Stacey first discovered Pilates; the focus on core stability and flexibility enhanced her performances and allowed to her to train daily without injury. Stacey later traded in her pointe shoes for a calculator in order to become a Biomedical Engineer, but when she discovered Xtend Barre she fell in love immediately. She was able to reconnect with her childhood passion but with the modern edge of upbeat music and the core fundamentals of Pilates. Stacey has completed a Certificate IV in Pilates Mat Instruction with Polestar Pilates Australia and is currently undertaking candidature for a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomechanics, so she lives and breathes the study of human form. Stacey loves the burn of a great Xtend Barre class, so prepare yourself for a big smile, fun music and sweat sweat sweat!
